Fishermen by E H Barlow, C1930 

Original etching of showing fishing boats and a fishing village. The picture is by E H Barlow and is signed in pencil bottom right, dates from around 1830. Super vibrant image. 
 
The picture has some age toning from a previous mount, the reverse is discoloured and has remnants of old masking tape but otherwise in good condition. Double click image for a more detailed view. Size of engraved area 290mm x 215mm.

H M S Inconstant in Plymouth Dockyard C1850 (large)

Stunning original lithograph titled 'H.M.S Inconstant  Lying off Plymouth Dock Yard'  Sub-titled 'To Captain Pring and the Officers of H.M.S Inconstant. Published around 1850 by Edmund Fry & Son London and Edmund Fry Jun Plymouth, the picture was originally drawn  by O W Brierly. H.M.S Inconstant was a fifth rate 36 gun frigate launched in 1836 and sold off in 1862.
 
The picture, which is hand coloured, has two small pin holes, one top left corner of image the other bottom right. There are also remnants of masking tape on the reverse but not affecting the picture, otherwise in good condition. Early copper plate engraving 'Victory over the Spanish 29 August 1350'. Engraved by R Rhodes from an original painting by Cleveley the picture was published in London by R Bowyer Historic Gallery in Pall Mall London in 1799.
 
The picture, which is hand coloured, is in good condition. Size of engraved area 190mm x 130mm excluding ornate border.

Superb original drypoint etching by Henry George Walker possibly Oxford University. Born in Birchfield Birmingham in 1876 he became an active etcher in 1921 when he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society. His most successful etchings were his studies of the harbours of Tenby and Brixham. He died in 1932.  
 
The picture, which has some discolouration as do all Walker etchings, is in good condition. Signed in pencil by the artist. Size of engraved area 250mm x 200mm.

Thames Spritsail Barge 1820
 
Original pen and ink wash drawing by R W V Bewis of a Thames spritsail barge of 1820. I'm afraid I know nothing about the artist but it is well executed and probably dates from around the 1950's. There are three others from this artist in our 'Watercolours and Drawings' section.
