Early copper plate map showing ' 5th Chart of the coast of France from Feecamp to Cape Barfleur' The map was published by W Faden in London in October 1793. The map shows the Normandy coastline from Barfleur through to Feecamp.
The map, which has later hand colouring, has a small paper loss just above the 'E' in Channel, this is not a hole in the paper just the loss of the top surface, otherwise in very good condition. Size of engraved area 250m x 180mm.

Thames Barges, early aquatint by William Miller 1805
Super early aquatint published by William Miller in 1805. The picture shows, I believe, barges working on the Thames. 'The pictures from this series are quite sought after and some fetch very high prices.
The picture has original hand colouring and apart from a brown line around it, from previously being framed, is in good condition. Size of engraved area; 290mm x 200mm.

| Early map of Kent by Richard Blome C1680.
Very early copper plate map of Kent by Richard Blome dating from around 1680. The map has a table of Lathes and Hundreds in Kent and a scale of miles. Blome originally commenced work on the county atlas this came from in 1667 but it would appear that by 1671 he had abandoned his attempt to complete the work and the plates were passed to another publisher. However in 1681 the map plates
re-emerge in Blome's possession and were published as Speed's Maps Epitomiz'd.
The map has quite early hand colouring and apart from some very minor staining to the outer border is in good condition. Size of engraved area 240mm x 180mm.

Canal Scene by Donald Maxwell (1887-1936)
Original watercolour by the listed artist Donald Maxwell. The picture shows a steam narrow boat and is signed and dated 1930 in pencil by the artist. Donald Maxwell was the official artist to the Admiralty in the first world war and went on the exhibit 14 times at the Royal Academy. The picture measures 190mm x 150mm.
The picture has had quite a bit of restoration but the price does reflect the condition.

Battle of the Nile C1830
Steel engraving of the Battle of the Nile August 1798. The battle was fought in Aboukir Bay near Alexandria Egypt with the British fleet under the command of Rear Admiral Horatio Nelson. The French fleet was commanded by Admiral Paul 'D'Brueys. The picture was published by Thomas Kelly in London around 1830.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Size of engraved area 200mm x 150mm.

Isle of Wight, Van der Keere 1646
Super little copper plate engraved map of the Isle of Wight by Pieter van der Keere dating from around 1646. These maps are commonly known as 'Miniature Speeds' and were published around 1646.
The map, which has quite early hand colouring, is more discoloured than the screen image and is quite grubby around the borders, not affecting the image. There are also two small pieces of white tape on the reverse side of the map at the top, but no tears. Otherwise the map is in good condition. Size of engraved area 120mm x 80mm.

Early copper plate engraving 'The North West Prospect of the City of Rochester' in Kent. The picture dates from around 1770 and is laid on paper. The picture is close trimmed and has some vertical creases but the price does reflect the condition. In good condition it would fetch around £100.
The picture has later hand colouring, condition stated above. Size of engraved area 280mm x 170mm.

| Map of the Rutupian Ports, Isle of Thanet by William Barlow C1770.
Scarce early copper plate map 'A Map of the Rutupian Ports, the ancient course of the Wantsume and the present course of the Rivers Stour'. This primative style map of Kent and the Isle of Thanet shows Monkton, St Nicholas, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Burton, Cooper Street, Menstre and Chislet, Wingham and Stourmouth amonst others. The map is by William Barlow and dates from around 1770.
The map is hand coloured and apart from a few light greases and being a little grubby around the borders is in good condition. Size of engraved area 310mm x 200mm.

Upnor Castle, Kent C1790
Early copper plate engraving 'A South East View of Upnor Castle in Kent' on the River Medway near Rochester. The picture shows the Castle, the South Tower, the Governor's Apartment, the Store Keepers House and the Barracks. The River Medway by Upnor Castle was the scene of a fierce battle between the English and Dutch fleets. Picture dates from around 1790.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is in good condition. Size of engraved area 190mm x 110mm.

| Captain Dampier, Chile C1780
Early copper plate engraving 'Affecting interview of two Moskito Men one of whom had been left three years on the Island of Juan Fernandez by Captain Dampier'. The engraving is by Pollard from an original drawing by Gravalot and dates from around 1780. Captain Dampier was born in Somerset in 1651, he was a pirate, navigator and buccaneer. He was the first person to circumnavigate the world three times, he died in 1715. Juan Fernandez is in the South Pacific around 360 miles from the coast of Chile, South America.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little faded and has some light creasing as you would expect, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 290mm x 190mm.

Moscow, rare large aquatint by Robert Bowyer (1758-1834) dated 1814
Superb early aquatint of Moscow, Russia by Robert Bowyer (1758-1834). The picture comes from his important work 'An illustrated record of important events in the annals of Europe'. The impression is on J Whatman watermarked paper and has original hand colouring.
There a a few light foxing marks and a very slight paper loss in the sky. This is not a hole just a thinning of the paper and only visible when held up to the light. Central fold as issued and generally in very good condition. Size of engraved area 520mm x 280mm
(20.5" x 11").

Rare folding copper plate map of London and Environs. The map goes from Colnebrook in the West to Gravesend in the East. Southerly it extends to Westerham in Kent and Hatfield in the North.
The map has original colour and apart from the borders being slightly grubby and a small hole at Upper Morden, only visible if held to the light (six boxes from the left and four boxes from the bottom), the map is in good condition. Size of engraved area 580m x 490mm.

Very rare astronomical chart 'Theorica Octavae Sphaerae'. This chart was purchased as a loose leaf from an American dealer who trades in rare books and early engravings and the following information is based on his research. From an edition of 'In Sphaeram Loannis de Sacro Bosco Commentarius' by Christophori Clavii, probably the 1581 edition published in Rome.
Christoph Clavius (1538-1612) was a German Jesuit astronomer and mathematician and the inventor of the Gregorian calendar.
The chart is printed on fine paper and is creased, as you would expect from an engraving of this age. Size of sheet 180m x 170mm.

Very early copper plate engraving by John Ogilby of Hitsiu in the Province of Tzietkiang. The picture comes from: Atlas Chinensis, being a second part of A relation of remarkable passages in two embassies from the East-India Company of the United Provinces to the vice-roy Singlamong and General Taising Lipovi and to Konchi, Emperor of China and East-Tartary. Published in 1671. A rare print.
The picture has a central fold as issued and some light creasing. There is also a small repaired hole, left just below the 'H' in Hitsiu, otherwise in reasonable condition. Size of engraved area 360mm x 280mm.

Very rare copper plate chart 'The magnitude of the sun. the primary and secundary planets, and distances of the secundary planets from their primary ones; deduced from the latest observations'. This scarce chart is by Samuel Dunn, mathematician, publisher, teacher and cartographer and was published by Robert Sayer in Fleet Street London June 1786.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has some minor offsetting from the text where it has been folded but otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 560mm x 370mm.

Liverpool Docks by P H Huggill 1920
Superb pencil signed artist's proof etching of the docks at Liverpool by the listed artist Henry Percy Huggill (1886-1957). The picture was published by the Gainsborough Galleries in Liverpool in 1920 and has an embossed artist's proof stamp bottom right. P.H. Huggill studied at the Royal College of Art 1908 -1914 and exhibited 12 times at the Royal Academy. The picture will look stunning mounted and framed.
The picture has a brown stain around the outer border from a previous mount but this will not be visible once it is re-matted and framed. Otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 250mm x 200mm.

The Phoenician by Albany Wiseman
Stunning limited edition lithograph 175/200 of the 'Phoenician' by the listed artist Albany Wiseman circa 1975. Albany Wiseman was born in 1930 and has been a professional artist since 1952. His work includes limited edition lithographs, book illustrations and posters. He has also published a number of books. The lithograph shows the Phoenician London in full sail passing a bouy marked North Kent.
The picture has a couple minor creases to the top border which will mount out and a very small crease just above the bottom title. The image is on heavy paper. Size of sheet 630mm x 460mm (25" x 18").

Early folding copper plate engraved map of 'A Plan of the proposed Navigable Canal from Andover to Redbridge in the County of Southampton'. Surveyed in 1770 the plan was published in the Gent Magazine in 1772. It shows the proposed route from Andover, through Stockbridge and Rumsey and onto Southampton. An interesting historical map.

Very early copper plate picture of the Samoyedes, people from the Arctic Circle, Russia from Allain Mallet's 'Description I'Universe'. This is from the German first edition Beschreibung des gantzen Welt-Kreysses which was published in 1685.

Very rare aquatint of 'View of Westminster from the East', London. The picture comes from the Antiquities of Westminster published by John Thomas Smith and is dated 1806. The engraving is aquatinted by Frederick Christian Lewis and afterwards etched and finished by J T Smith.
The engraving has some foxing mostly to the border but generally in very good condition. Size of engraved area 230mm x 180mm.
