Somersetshire C1780 
 
Copper plate map of Somersetshire by Thomas Bowen dating from around 1780. The map was published by Alex Hogg at the King's Arms, Paternoster Row, London.  
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has some light creasingand has been professionally re-margined at the top. There is also some slight discolouration but the price does reflect the condition. Size of engraved area 200mm x 155mm.

Copper plate map of Herefordshire by Thomas Conder dating from around 1780. The map was published by Alex Hogg at the King's Arms, Paternoster Row, London.

Copper plate map of Staffordshire by Thomas Conder dating from around 1780. The map was published by Alex Hogg at the King's Arms, Paternoster Row, London.

Steel engraved map of Suffolk engraved for Moule's English Counties circa 1850.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby and quite discoloured but the price does reflect this. Size of engraved area 260mm x 200mm.

Lambeth and Christ Church Parish Southwark London C1755 
 
Early folding copper plate map of 'Lambeth and Christ Church Parish Southwark' from around 1755. South of the Thames the map lists the residences of a number of prominent people and some street names, quite rare. The map comes from John Strype's 'A survey of the Cities of London and Westminster'.  
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has a small repaired hole to the right of the compass rose but otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 350mm x 280mm.

Early road map London, Bristol, Bath & Worcester 1765 
 
Early folding copper plate map drawn and engraved by J Gibson for the Gents Magazine 1765. The map shows the roads from London to Bristol and Bath and Bristol to Bath & Worcester.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby around the border and has a small repaired hole (second column from left one inch down), and a repair to the top right corner but generally in good condition for the age. Size of engraved area 300mm x 180mm.

Map of the Mail Road from London to Holyhead
 
Early steel engraved fold map by Edward Mogg from 'Paterson's Roads being an entirely and accurate description of all the Direct and Principle Cross Roads in England and Wales'. The map dates from around 1825.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, is on very fine paper and has some vertical creases as expected, otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area; 300mm x 170mm.

Rare copper plate map by, I believe, Thomas Kitchin from John Hinton's 'The Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure' published around 1765. The map is a survey of the roads from London to Berwick.
 
The map, which has later hand colouring, has a crease bottom right and some professional restoration to a tear half way up on the right. Unfortunately these maps are almost always torn in the bottom right hand corner from years of opening and closing. Size of engraved area; 360mm x 300mm.
