The Slaver Sunny South surrendering to H.M.S. Brisk 1860.
Full page engraving from the 1860 Illustrated London News 'The Slaver Sunny South, alias Emanuela surrendering to H.M.S. Brisk bearing the flag of Rear-Admiral Sir H Keppel. H.M.S. Brisk was a small wooden walled ship that was fast and ideal for out running slavers such as the Sunny South.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, is a little grubby around the borders and has some minor creasing as do most ILN engravings. Size of engraved area 340mm x 230mm.
