Stunning original aquatint 'Fishermen returning to Brighton', Sussex, etched by B Comte from an original painting by P J de Loutherbourg R.A. The picture comes from Phillip Jacques de Loutherbourg's 'Picturesque Scenery of Great Britain' published in 1801 and 1805. The picture is dated 1797 and was sold by V & R Green, No 14 Percy Street, Bedford Square, London. Born in Strasbourg in 1740 Loutherbourg was a French painter and illustrator who became an R.A. in 1781. A very rare picture.
The picture, which has vibrant original hand colouring, has a few marks, slight creases and minor stains the most prominent being to the right of the titles. Otherwise in good condition for its age. Size of image 400mm x 240mm.

Rowing Boats, Greenwich by Paul Bisson
Superb original limited edition 9/250 etching by Paul Bisson of 'Rowing Boats, Greenwich', could be either the Curlew Rowing Club or the Globe Rowing Club which are based in Greenwich. The picture probably dates from around 2000 and has a very atmospheric feel about it with the boats ready to be launched on the River Thames. Paul Bisson was born in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands in 1938 and studied at the St Martin's School of Art and between 1959 -1961 at the Royal Academy School.
The picture has a few very minor grubby marks around the border all which will mount out, otherwise in excellent condition. Size of image 140mm x 120mm.

On the Thames C1810
Interesting early aquatint 'On the Thames (Effect of Rain) '. The picture is by G Harley and was published by R Ackermann at 191 Regent Street in London. Super view of the River Thames with a hay barge in the foreground and windmill in the background.
The picture has a few very minor grubby marks and is trimmed below the publishing details at the bottom of the sheet, otherwise in reasonable condition. Size of image 235mm x 155mm.

Liverpool Docks by P H Huggill 1920
Superb pencil signed artist's proof etching of the docks on the River Mersey in Liverpool by the listed artist Henry Percy Huggill (1886-1957). The picture was published by the Gainsborough Galleries in Liverpool in 1920 and has an embossed artist's proof stamp bottom right. P.H. Huggill studied at the Royal College of Art 1908 -1914 and exhibited 12 times at the Royal Academy. Super view of tugs tied up and the Liver Building which will look stunning mounted and framed.
The picture has a brown stain around the outer border from a previous mount but this will not be visible once it is re-matted and framed. Otherwise in good condition. Size of engraved area 250mm x 200mm.

Stunning early original aquatint of ' View of Purfleet, Erith, and Long Reach' in Kent with the River Thames and ships in the background. Engraved by J C Stadler from an original drawing by J Farrington R.A, the picture was published in June 1795 by J & J Boydell Shakspeare in the Pall Mall Gallery, Cheapside, London.
The picture, which has later hand colouring, has some light creasing and a mark in the sky. It is also close trimmed to the outer border. Otherwise in reasonable condition. A rare print. Size of engraved area 300mm x 200mm.

| Capture of the Mahonesa October 13th 1796
Superb early aquatint of the Capture of Mahonesa, October 13th 1796. The engraving comes from Jenkin's Naval Achievements of Great Britain published in 1816. This work is still regarded as one of the finest monuments to Nelson's navy ever produced. The picture is engraved by T Sutherland from a painting by T Whitcombe. A very rare print.
The Mahonesa was a Spanish ship commanded by Don Thomas Agalde, a British Captain. She was captured by H.M.S. Terpsichore, commanded by Richard Bowen, around Cabo De Gata in the Western Mediteranean.
The picture, which has original hand colouring, is in good condition. Size of engraved area; 260mm x 180mm.

| Defence of the Centurion in Vizagapatam Road 1804
Superb early aquatint of the 'Defence of the Centurion in Vizagapatam Road, September 18th 1804'. Super scene from the Battle of Vizagapatam India between the British and French Squadrons. The picture is engraved by Thomas Sutherland who engraved many of the plates for Jenkin's Naval Achievements of Great Britain published in 1816, regarded as one of the finest monuments to Nelson's navy ever produced. The picture was published by Whitmore and Fenn in London 1818.
The picture, which has original hand colouring, has some issues; the engraving is laid on card and has some marks and creasing, the most prominent being at the bottom running between the O & N in Centurion and just onto the image. Price does however reflect condition. Size of engraved area; 210mm x 130mm.

Unusual early aquatint by G Castellini from around 1820. The picture shows the cutting and stacking of logs with possible slavery interest. The location is probably a French or Dutch colony in Africa but there is no title or indication where exactly.
The picture has a vertical crease but generally is in good condition. Size of engaved area 280mm x 160mm.

St Helena C1820
Super aquatint of St Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. Engraver unknown but probably someone like Thomas Sutherland who engraved the plates for 'Jenkin's Naval Achievements'. The picture dates from around 1820 and is quite a rare image. St Helena was used by the British as a place of exile, the most notable person exiled there was Napoleon.
The picture, which has original hand colouring, has a small stain to the left hand margin and some slight wrinkling but price does reflect condition. Size of engaved area 205mm x 120mm.

| Moors on board H.M.S. Swiftsure 1801
Rare early aquatint ' Moors on board Swiftsure' engraved by J C Stadler after an original drawing by Cooper Willyams. The picture is dated 1801. H.M.S. Swiftsure was one of the ships under the command of Rear Admiral Sir Horatio Nelson at the Battle of the Nile in 1798. She carried 74 guns and was commanded by Captain Hallowell.
The engraving is in good condition. Size of engraved area 220mm x 160mm.

Rare early aquatint engraving of 'A View of part of the Old Dock in Liverpool'. Superb picture of the old docks, which were built after a 1710 Act of Parliament, by William Green (1761-1823), etcher and aquatint engraver from an original painting by W H Watts. The picture was published by W H Watts in 1799.

Superb original drypoint etching by Henry George Walker, 'To and from the Trawlers, Brixham'. Born in Birchfield Birmingham in 1876 he became an active etcher in 1921 when he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society. His most successful etchings were his studies of the harbours of Tenby and Brixham. He died in 1932.

Superb original drypoint etching by Henry George Walker, 'Off Brixham' with yachts and an early tug. Born in Birchfield Birmingham in 1876 he became an active etcher in 1921 when he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society.
