David Ball

David is a Hampshire based artist and a member of the Romsey Art Group whose president is Lady Romsey. He regularly exhibits at the Groups exhibitions and has shown at the King John’s House annual exhibition.

In 2012 he was selected to exhibit two paintings at the prestigious Southampton City Gallery to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

'New Arrival'
 
RMS Titanic at berth 44, Southampton Docks shortly after her arrival on the night of 3rd/4th April 1912. David's great uncle, George Beauchamp, was a stoker on the ship and survived the sinking.

Circa 1800, a cutter of H.M. Revenue patrols in search of smugglers. The flags flown denote authority and purpose which was to chase, board and confiscate the vessel and contraband.

'The silence of Syros'
 
On this Greek island the sun is high in the sky, the cool breeze blows and the noise of the crickets breaks the peace. Near the rocks of the cove local fishing boats are at anchor.
